The Bible is still the best-selling book in history. The variety of translations and types is huge. Here we will look at one type – Study Bibles – to find the Best Study Bibles f22 or Everyone. I think every believer should have one Bible they love. After that, have some you use for Study or to carry to church! The most important thing is to have a Bible you will use, read, write in, and wear out!
Also, find a translation you like. I read a new translation each year, Why? Because, if I am too familiar with one translation, I tend to skim as I read because I know what is going to be said. Reading a new translation causes me to actually read. This year I am reading the Complete Jewish Study Bible.
I also like to read out loud to myself. I do this because I hear myself and I hear the Word. Hearing it in a new translation causes me to be more attentive and responsive.
How many translations of the Bible exist at this moment? There are more than 3,300 translations of the Bible. You can also read – Bible Translations – Find the Best One For You – to help find one you like.
Which translations are the best sellers in 2021? Christian Book Expo lists their top 10 translations:
- New International Version
- King James
- New Living Translation
- English Standard Version
- New King James Version
- Christian StandardBible
- Reina Valera
- New International Reader’s Version
- The Message
- New American Standard Bible
Translations, along with Bibles, are very personal things. I have one Bible I love. I seldom use it but it gives me great pleasure whenever I look at it. The reason I don’t use it much is that it was very expensive and is no longer in print so I have kept it in pristine condition.
What is the DIfference Between a Regular BIble and a Study BIble?
Study Bibles provide you with tools like commentaries, dictionaries, extensive maps, and teaching, I have a Spirit-Filled Life Study Bible and it has extensive commentary, references, historical information, outlines of every book of the Bible, a huge concordance, and much more. I refer to it constantly in my personal Bible time and when writing here for Study Your Bible Now.
Regular Bibles are generally in a simpler format and most have references and a small concordance but they are designed primarily for reading. Regular Bibles are usually thinner and smaller than Study Bibles.
As a rule, Study Bibles are usually quite large and heavy making it more difficult to just put them in a purse or a small bag. Mine measures 9.50″x6.25″x2″ (thick) and weighs almost 4 lbs. That is a common size and weight for Study Bibles because of the amount of content they contain.
On the other hand, regular Bibles can often be found in ‘personal size’ which means they are very compact and lightweight making them easier to carry with you all the time.
Many newer Bibles also have pages for journaling, notes, drawing, and even coloring pages. I will include as we examine what’s available.
